International Incident

I deleted my last post. I was angry and I shouldn't write when I'm angry. I'm sorry, I want to lead a Christian life and this blog is meant for encouragement, love and compassion among other things. I believe in the power of prayer so it is that which we will do in this matter.

The actions of this man in Florida are putting the future of hosting trips and adoptions at risk. This is all the ammunition the nay-sayers in Ukraine need to push a moratorium through. No more adoption, no more Frontier Horizon and Ukraine Orphan Outreach (UOO), no R & Z with our family. This is what I was upset about. Pray with us!

Yeah, we're upset, too, but we're praying that hosting and adoptions continue without delays or disruptions. After all, we're supposed to leave for Ukraine in nine days!

I have read this story in different papers and none quote this guy, not give his reasons for acting this way. Biblically we are to hear both sides of the story before making assumptions. I'm certainly not taking this guy's side because it seems like he is breaking the law, but I would like to hear his story nonetheless.

We haven't heard his side of the story and noone quotes him because he hasn't said anything. Rather, he's throwing his big money around and hiding from reality...wanting to get his way...and filed a case here in our courts, which will have no say in another country's matters.

He has already been told no by the Ukrainian courts. But all that doesn't matter to him because he wants his way. Never mind the countless thousands that may find a home through hosting or adoption. Even these three girls may never be adopted by a family, an option we have always left open for R & Z!

That being said, I respect your opinion, Barb. Thank you for having the courage to examine the other side. And yes, I would like to hear his side of the story. However, ya know what they call people that are law breakers? Criminals!

Isn't this simply defined as international kidnapping? While I am curious about the motives, he simply had no right to keep the kids, and I wonder why there are still negotiations rather than the kids being promptly returned to Ukraine. It is giving bad rep to the USA.

It smells like a new Elian Gonzalez case.

I pray that the programs won't be stalled because of the awfully irresponsible actions of one host family, but I can see a lot stricter selection of hosts in the future.

I was unable to read your last post, but feel your frustration. I think this guy believes he is doing the best for these girls. However, he must not be aware of the impact he is having on the adoption world. I pray that his actions do not stand for the thoughts of the US in the eyes of Ukraine. Please, God, helps resolve this situation for the good of the children of Ukraine.

We spoke with the President of Frontier Horizons last night, just to hear it from as close as the horses mouth as possible. We were told that the official, person holding the POA for the girls in Ukraine was on their was to Florida to handle the matter. I hope this helps. Maybe we will see something happen soon! Too bad he hasn't thought of all of us who are in the process and our kids who are waiting.

I'm really upset about this selfish and short sighted act. It is kidnapping. He should be prosecuted. Period.
