State Department Notice

The official press release from the U.S. Department of State can be seen here and below...

Ukraine Adoption Notice

U.S. DEPARTMENT OF STATE
Bureau of Consular Affairs
Office of Children’s Issues

November 3, 2010

The Ukrainian legislature is in the process of voting on a bill that would suspend all intercountry adoptions from countries without bilateral agreements with Ukraine, including adoptions from the United States. The bill passed a first reading and vote, but must still pass a second reading and be signed into law by the president. The second reading could take place in the next few weeks. If the bill passes the second reading, it may be signed into law as early as the end of 2010. The draft bill appears to include suspension of all adoptions in progress.

The Department is will post updates as information becomes available.

Not sure if it helps, but I used the "contact us" link on there to encourage that they start an agreement now... perhaps if others joined in, it could start some motion?

We are thinking and praying for all whose adoptions are in process. I especially thought of you and dear Lizzie when I heard the news. We are praying that God's will for these children will be to safely deliver to their waiting parents.

We are also adopting from Ukraine. We should be traveling soon to bring home our two beautiful babies who have down syndrome. I am praying for us as well as you and all the other families that God will not allow this vote to pass again!!! Praising God for every orphan who finds their forever family!!!
